JLW_Guest (covering the wider site and cabins)
Effective for:
Adult visitors authorised by JLW site wardens (e.g. Scout or camp group leaders, Forest
School group leaders, education group leaders, parent volunteers, LARP group
attendees, and other adults deemed eligible by the wardens).
1. Purpose
This Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) sets out the rules for the appropriate and secure use
of the JLW_Guest Wi-Fi network. It is intended to provide temporary internet access for
eligible adult users while ensuring the safety, integrity, and lawful use of the campsite
network infrastructure.
2. Eligibility and Access Control
Access to JLW_Guest is granted via time-limited voucher codes that are:
• Issued by JLW wardens on request and for a fee.
• Valid per device and restricted to either 24 hours, 48 hours, or a specific day
(9am–5am) by prior arrangement
Voucher codes are available only to adults, including:
• Scout or camp group leaders
• Forest School group leaders
• Education group leaders
• Parent volunteers
• LARP group attendees
• Other adults approved by the JLW site wardens
Any unauthorised use or sharing of credentials is a breach of this policy and may
result in disciplinary action or removal of access.
Under no circumstances are access vouchers to be:
• Given to or shared with minors or Young Leaders.
• Used by anyone not explicitly approved by the wardens.
Any sharing or misuse of voucher codes is strictly prohibited and may result in access
being immediately revoked.
3. Equipment Use and Physical Security
• Guests must not attempt to access, unplug, modify or interfere with any network
hardware or cabling.
• Physical tampering or connecting unauthorised equipment to the network
infrastructure is forbidden.
• Any network issues must be reported to the wardens rather than attempting self-
repair.
4. Acceptable Use
• Guest Wi-Fi access is intended for light, general internet use during your stay (e.g.
communication, planning, basic admin)
• Users must respect the privacy and rights of other network users, use the connection
in a manner that does not disrupt others or overload the network, and comply with all
relevant laws and regulations while connected.
5. Prohibited Use
Users must not use the JLW Wi-Fi for:
• Any illegal activities (e.g., copyright infringement, hacking, fraud).
• Any activity contrary to Scout Policy, Organisation and Rules (POR).
• Personal use that causes excessive network load or disrupts JLW operations.
• Attempting to bypass network security or monitoring mechanisms.
6. Monitoring and Enforcement
• The JLW management team on behalf of the trustees reserves the right to monitor
network usage to ensure compliance with this policy.
• Any breaches may result in immediate revocation of access, removal from site if
appropriate, and reporting to legal or Scouting authorities.
7. Acknowledgement
Use of the JLW_Guest Wi-Fi network implies acceptance of this AUP. By connecting with
a voucher code, you confirm that you are an eligible adult user and agree to follow all
terms.
