Duty Wardens are typically on-site by 7pm on Friday evenings. If you would like earlier access to campsites or cabins please make a request when booking. Please understand it is not always possible to accommodate early arrival times.
Early Check-in (10am-5pm) will be subject to an early check-in fee if a Warden is available to let you in.
Groups are required to notify the warden team when they arrive. A Warden will check you into the cabin, please allow a cabin check to take place before bringing kit into the building.
Groups are required to notify the warden before you are ready to leave so that they can check the cabin with you before you leave site. You will be required to resolve any issues found during the cabin check before leaving.
Please note that all breakage’s and damage must be reported to the warden as soon as possible and will be charged for. If you find any damage on arrival at your site or cabin it is your responsibility to report it to the warden immediately to avoid being charged.
Catering equipment is available for hire within the cabins. Groups should look after the equipment and report any damages to the Duty Wardens so that the damaged equipment can be replaced ready for other groups to use.
To hire catering equipment please email jlwcampsite@gmail.com or fill in a contact request on OSM. Please ensure you include your booking reference number when making the request. As well as the equipment a £30 deposit, per cabin kit, will be added to your booking. This is refundable if the equipment is returned clean and dry.
All Catering equipment is to be cleaned, dried and ready for inspection by 2pm on day of departure.
ALL cabins need to be emptied, cleaned and ready for inspection by 3pm on day of departure.
Any Fire Extinguishers or Fire Blankets used without just cause or damaged in any way will be charged for.
Campers and visitors must not alter or remove the fire alarm detectors. Any detectors that have been altered or removed will incur a charge.
Campers and visitors must not attempt to access the fire alarm panel in the Harry Walker Cabin. If the fire alarm goes off you must exit the building, without collecting belongings, and inform the Duty Warden. Do not re-enter a building until given permission to do so by the Duty Warden.
We do NOT hold a licence for TV reception by campers/visitors and therefore the use of reception equipment is NOT permitted. The showing of DVD’s/films is a breach of licensing laws unless YOU buy an MPLC licence. Failure to purchase a licence can render YOU and John’s Lee Wood Campsite liable to prosecution.
PLEASE ENSURE THAT ANY KEYS ENTRUSTED TO YOU HAVE BEEN RETURNED BEFORE YOU LEAVE OR YOU WILL BE CHARGED FOR THE TOTAL COST OF SUPPLYING NEW KEYS and FITTING NEW LOCKS.
If you are going off site at any point during your stay you must had the cabin keys into the Duty Warden.
ALL groups are requested to download the Emergency Contact List, complete and hand the form to the duty wardens on arrival at the campsite.
For Scouting groups camping under the ‘Nights Away’ scheme – The permit holder MUST hold a valid permit on arrival and the permit holder MUST be on site during the night time as required by POR.
It is the groups responsibility to ensure that DLV/CLV authorisation of a ‘NAN’ has been granted. John’s Lee Wood, it’s volunteers and Trustee board will not be held responsible for any group staying over without the relevant DLV/CLV authorisation.
If using the Nights Away Passport scheme the passport must be fully completed & shown to the duty wardens on arrival. The duty wardens will check the passport & phone the Nights Away permit holder (if not present) to confirm the passport & to notify the groups safe arrival. The Nights Away permit holder remains responsible for the group.
