ARRIVAL AND DEPARTURES
Checking-in
Duty Wardens are typically on-site by 7pm on Friday evenings. If you would like earlier access to campsites or cabins please make a request when booking. Please understand it is not always possible to accommodate early arrival times.
Early Check-in (10am-5pm) for buildings will be subject to an early check-in fee if a Warden is available to let you in.
Early Check-in for camping can be requested but may not always be possible if there are other groups using the site during the day. If it is possible there will be no vehicle access beyond the car park. The main shower block won’t be open but the side toilet on the shower block can be used, click here for the key code.
Groups are required to notify the warden team when they arrive.
ALL groups are requested to download the Emergency Contact List, complete and hand the form to the duty wardens on arrival at the campsite.
Pitching Tents
Tents must not be pitched on any sites until you have checked in with the Duty Wardens, unless you have made prior arrangements with the Bookings Secretary. If you pitch on someone else’s site you WILL be asked to move.
Tents are NOT to be pitched on ‘The Green’, the area immediately in front of the Harry Walker cabin. Tents can only be pitched on named camping pitches.
Checking-out
Campers are required to notify the warden before you are ready to leave so that they can check the site and/or cabin with you before you leave site.
All camper numbers to be confirmed with Duty Warden before leaving site. See Deposits, Payments and Prices.
ALL cabins need to be emptied, cleaned and ready for inspection by 3pm on day of departure.
Please leave sites and cabins clean and tidy, as you would expect to find them. E.g. Hearths cleared of ashes and sites/buildings cleared of rubbish.
All unburnt wood returned to the woodpile.
All ash or partially burnt wood taken to the ash pile - Ashes must be cold.
Cabins swept and mopped.

Scouting Nights Away Notification
For Scouting groups camping under the ‘Nights Away’ scheme – The permit holder MUST hold a valid permit on arrival and the permit holder MUST be on site during the night time as required by POR.
It is the groups responsibility to ensure that DLV/CLV authorisation of a ‘NAN’ has been granted. John’s Lee Wood, it’s volunteers and Trustee board will not be held responsible for any group staying over without the relevant DLV/CLV authorisation.
If using the Nights Away Passport scheme the passport must be fully completed & shown to the duty wardens on arrival. The duty wardens will check the passport & phone the Nights Away permit holder (if not present) to confirm the passport & to notify the groups safe arrival. The Nights Away permit holder remains responsible for the group.
