The site, environment and animals

Accidents and Injuries

  • ALL injuries and accidents occurring on site MUST be reported to a Warden as soon as possible, but before leaving site.

  • For Scout Association members - If the injury has resulted in a hospital visit this is reportable to National. The Duty Wardens must also be made aware. If the hospital visit occurs after your visit, but because of an injury occurred onsite you must inform the Head Warden via email, please include your booking reference number in the email.

  • If the emergency services have been called you MUST inform a warden immediately.

Animals

  • No animals are to be caught or trapped onsite.

  • Dogs are not encouraged on the campsite. However, if they must be brought on the site it must be with prior permission of the Head Warden.

  • Adults dropping off or collecting are not permitted to bring dogs onto site.

  • Any dog coming onto site must be good tempered and must stay on a lead at all times. The owner is responsible for cleaning up all dog faeces immediately. We reserve the right to ask for the removal of any dog which, in a warden’s opinion, is causing a nuisance in any way.

Bicycles

  • Cycles are not to be ridden on the site for any reason, as they damage the sites and are a danger to other people on the site who cannot hear them coming.

General Site

  • No pits or holes of any sort are to be dug on the campsite.

  • Do not take short cuts through fences, surrounding properties or other camper’s sites and avoid roped or fenced off areas. Anyone found climbing or damaging the perimeter fence may be asked to leave the campsite and billed for any repairs required.

  • Do not to enter the Sleeping Shelter area unless you have booked them.

  • We do NOT hold a licence for TV reception by campers/visitors and therefore the use of reception equipment is NOT permitted. The showing of DVD’s/films is a breach of licensing laws unless YOU buy an MPLC licence. Failure to purchase a licence can render YOU and John’s Lee Wood Campsite liable to prosecution.

  • All campers and visitors are required to respect a quiet period from midnight to 7am.

  • All surrounding properties are private so please do not trespass on our neighbours land or deliberately shine torches directly at the properties. Any group found trespassing or climbing on and damaging the perimeter fence may be asked to leave the site and will be charged for any damage caused.

Pyrotechnics inc. Fireworks

  • Do not let off Loud Bangers, Flares or Fireworks as this causes problems with our neighbours, the local Gamekeepers and the police.

  • Fireworks are not permitted, even in November due to our insurance.

Smoking and Vaping

  • Smoking is not permitted in any building including e-cigarettes of any type.

  • E-cigarettes are NOT to be charged in any of the buildings.

  • All cigarette ends must be disposed of responsibly and not littered on the site.

Trees

  • In the interests of safety trees are NOT to be climbed

  • Do not, for any reason, cut trees of any sort. This could be dangerous and there is a tree preservation order on the site. (Damaged trees will be charged for and you may be reported to the Local Authority). Fallen branches are all around the site and there is often timber and logs on the woodpile opposite the shower block (watch out for nails). Please return all unused timber and logs to the correct woodpile before you leave the site.
